How light installation is priced per point — and when a whole visit is quoted instead
Lighting work is quoted per light point, not per hour, because the labour is dominated by what happens at the ceiling rather than by how long the visit lasts. The guide bands on this page are per point at a suitable existing point:
- Downlight or spotlight — S$70–S$130 per point (drill, trim, connection).
- LED panel — S$80–S$150 for a single panel including connection and testing.
- Pendant — S$90–S$160; chandelier — S$120–S$220, where weight, balance and ceiling height do most of the work.
- Track light system — S$180–S$300 for rail mount, multiple heads and connections.
- Under-cabinet LED strip — S$30–S$50 per metre. Outdoor sensor light — S$80–S$140. Dimmer swap on an existing switch — S$60–S$100.
Several points in one visit is not a simple multiple of one point. The multi-fixture tier on this page starts from S$220 and includes circuit-load verification across every fixture being added, which a single-point job does not need. What pushes a point to the top of its band is fixture weight, ceiling height, whether the mounting hardware comes with the fixture, false-ceiling access, and whether the existing point is live and correctly sized for the new load. What is not inside any band: new circuits, damaged wiring and regulated electrical work, which are quoted separately and assigned to an appropriate Licensed Electrical Worker where required. Can downlights be installed in a false ceiling?
Downlights can be considered where the existing false ceiling, cut-out, support, cable access and driver clearance are suitable. New ceiling construction, making-good and concealed wiring are separate scopes.
Can a dimmer switch be included?
A dimmer can be considered when the selected LED driver, lamp and existing circuit are compatible. The quote should state the dimmer model, circuit scope and any required regulated work.
What changes the installation time and price?
Fixture count, weight, ceiling height and material, existing point condition, access, mounting support, driver or transformer location, circuit condition and making-good determine the final scope, timing and price.
Can I supply my own light fixtures?
