Electrical Works — EMA Licensed

What FixMove does

Electrical works involving electrical installations or regulated electrical scope, including new wiring, DB-box work, RCCB / MCB replacement, fixed-line installation, and water heater electrical hookup, may require an appropriately licensed EMA Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW). FixMove confirms whether an LEW is required before work starts and arranges the appropriate personnel for the job scope.

How to verify

Customers may verify LEW status via EMA ELISE Licensed Workers or the licence card. For projects requiring an LEW, customers may request the assigned worker's name or licence details before work starts.

Legal basis

EMA ELISE advises consumers who need electrical work to check that the person undertaking the work has a valid electrical worker licence, and EMA guidance says a contractor should provide details of the appointed LEW for the electrical work.

Plumbing Works — PUB Licensed

What FixMove does

Regulated water service and sanitary plumbing works are handled by PUB Licensed Plumbers (LP) where required. This includes work on the main water supply, water heater installation, wall-embedded pipes, and any work that affects PUB-regulated infrastructure.

Simple plumbing works (e.g., replacing a tap or P-trap, clearing a toilet choke) may be handled by trained handymen within PUB's allowed scope. We disclose which classification applies to your job before commencing.

How to verify

PUB maintains a public registry of Licensed Plumbers. Customers may verify the assigned plumber's licence number, which we provide via WhatsApp before work commences.

Legal basis

Under PUB regulations effective 1 April 2018, regulated plumbing works must be carried out by Licensed Plumbers. Engaging unlicensed personnel for regulated works carries legal risk for both the contractor and the homeowner.

Renovation & Carpentry — HDB / BCA / Permit Requirements

What FixMove does

General carpentry, cabinets and TV-wall works are not automatically a BCA-licensed scope. Where a project involves HDB approval, wet works, structural or load-bearing changes, commercial fit-out, fire-safety requirements or building works, the contractor, permit and authority requirements are confirmed before commencement, and the appropriate compliant contractor is arranged for that scope.

How to verify

For HDB flats, customers should verify that the renovation contractor is listed in HDB's Directory of Renovation Contractors (DRC). BCA CRS, Licensed Builder or SCDF details apply only where the project scope requires them; customers may request the actual contractor name, UEN and verification path.

Legal basis

HDB states that contractors must be listed in the DRC before they can carry out renovations in HDB flats. BCA CRS / Licensed Builder / SCDF requirements depend on the commercial, structural, fire-safety or building-work scope.

Insurance & Warranty Documents

What Customers Should Always Ask

  1. Which licence applies to this specific work? (LEW / LP / RC / handyman scope)
  2. Who is the actual worker or contractor? Can they provide name, UEN, licence or directory information?
  3. How can I verify the licence? (Direct link to government portal)
  4. Is there applicable insurance or safety documentation for this project?
  5. Where is the warranty written? (Length, coverage, claim process)
⚠ Important Notice

If a quote involves regulated electrical work or regulated water service / sanitary plumbing work, but the contractor cannot explain the applicable EMA LEW, PUB LP or actual contractor details, verify before confirming the work. Licence, insurance and warranty terms should be checked against the written quotation or contract scope.
