FixMove Licences & Compliance
FixMove operates within Singapore's regulatory framework. Below we explain the specific licences each type of work requires, how customers can verify them, and the legal basis for each requirement. We don't say "Licensed" without telling you exactly which licence and how to check it.

Electrical Works — EMA Licensed
What FixMove does
Electrical works that legally require a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) under the Singapore Electricity Act — including new wiring, DB-box work, RCCB / MCB replacement, fixed-line installation, and water heater electrical hookup — are arranged through EMA Licensed Electrical Workers where required.
How to verify
Customers may verify LEW status via the EMA ELISE portal. We provide the LEW number for the worker assigned to your job on WhatsApp before work commences.
Legal basis
EMA's official guidance states that all electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrical worker, and consumers should verify that the worker holds a valid licence. Engaging a non-LEW for regulated work can void home insurance and result in fines.
Verify on EMA ELISE →Plumbing Works — PUB Licensed
What FixMove does
Regulated water service and sanitary plumbing works are handled by PUB Licensed Plumbers (LP) where required. This includes work on the main water supply, water heater installation, wall-embedded pipes, and any work that affects PUB-regulated infrastructure.
Simple plumbing works (e.g., replacing a tap or P-trap, clearing a toilet choke) may be handled by trained handymen within PUB's allowed scope. We disclose which classification applies to your job before commencing.
How to verify
PUB maintains a public registry of Licensed Plumbers. Customers may verify the assigned plumber's licence number, which we provide via WhatsApp before work commences.
Legal basis
Under PUB regulations effective 1 April 2018, regulated plumbing works must be carried out by Licensed Plumbers. Engaging unlicensed personnel for regulated works carries legal risk for both the contractor and the homeowner.
Verify on PUB →Renovation & Carpentry — BCA Registered
What FixMove does
For HDB renovation works requiring approval, BCA-regulated commercial projects, and structural / load-bearing changes, the contractor and permit requirements are confirmed before commencement. FixMove operates as a BCA-registered Renovation Contractor (RC) where required.
How to verify
BCA's directory of Renovation Contractors is publicly searchable. Customers may verify the FixMove RC registration number and class on request.
Legal basis
HDB requires all renovation work involving alteration of fixtures, wet works, or structural changes to be carried out by HDB-registered Renovation Contractors. BCA registration determines the maximum project value the contractor is authorised to undertake.
Verify on BCA →Insurance Coverage
- Public Liability Insurance — up to S$1,000,000 per occurrence (covers third-party property damage)
- Workmen's Compensation Insurance — covers all on-site workers as required by the Workplace Safety and Health Act
- Workmanship Warranty — 1 year on labour for general repairs; 5 years on waterproofing; 10 years on hardware (Blum/Hettich) for custom carpentry
What Customers Should Always Ask
- Which licence applies to this specific work? (LEW / LP / RC / handyman scope)
- What is the licence number? (We provide it before work starts)
- How can I verify the licence? (Direct link to government portal)
- What insurance is in place? (Policy number on request)
- What is the warranty? (Length, what's covered, claim process)
If any contractor in Singapore quotes you for regulated electrical or plumbing work without providing an EMA LEW or PUB LP number, you should ask why and verify before agreeing. Engaging unlicensed personnel for regulated works carries legal risk and can void your home insurance.
