How kitchen cabinet pricing actually works in Singapore

A custom kitchen cabinet quote in Singapore is built up from four cost layers: panel material (plywood, melamine, multi-layer board or solid wood), edge banding and finishing, internal hardware (drawer runners, hinges, soft-close mechanisms from Blum or Hettich), and the running length in feet (measured along the floor footprint, not by cabinet count). Most contractors quote per linear foot for top cabinets and per linear foot for base cabinets separately, then add the countertop as a third line.

Material labels alone are not enough for a comparable cabinet quote. Ask for the carcass core and thickness, moisture-exposed sink-base treatment, edge banding, door substrate and finish, backing, shelf thickness and the exact hardware schedule. The visible S$480/ft plywood and S$680/ft solid-wood planning bands still require those specifications and the measured upper/base scope to be confirmed.

Decisions that move the price the most

Internal layout: Drawer stacks, pull-out baskets, tall pantry units and internal organisers add fronts, runners and hardware. List each internal fitting and preferred hardware tier so competing quotes use the same schedule.

Soft-close hardware: The S$180-S$380 soft-close planning band depends on hinge, runner and drawer quantities plus the selected supplier and model. Require brand/model, quantities and supplier terms in the quote instead of comparing a single upgrade total.

Worktop material: Worktop quotes should identify material and supplier, thickness, edge profile, backsplash, sink and hob cut-outs, upstands, templating, delivery, lifting access, installation and making-good. Compare those fields rather than a material name or per-foot headline alone.

Hidden site work: Hidden work must be scoped separately: demolition and disposal, wall or tile making-good, mounting reinforcement, waterproofing, sink-base damage, and any plumbing or electrical relocation. The responsible trade, testing and exclusions should appear as separate written lines.

How to send a brief that gets an accurate quote in one round

Snap three photos: the full kitchen from the doorway, a close-up of the existing wet zone (sink and hob area), and a head-on shot of any wall you want top cabinets installed on.
