Why many companies surcharge weekends — and why we don't
Weekend surcharges exist because demand peaks when most households are free. Adding 20–50% on a Saturday is the easiest way for a service company to ration its busiest slots. It is a legitimate business choice — but it is a scheduling premium, not a cost of doing the work. The pipe, the wiring and the fan coil do not know what day it is.
FixMove prices the job, not the calendar: scope and start hour set the rate. What weekend demand actually affects is availability — slots genuinely run out earlier. That is why we handle busy days with scheduling (book earlier, or use the optional priority slot below), not with a weekend markup.
What you actually pay on a weekend (same as weekdays)
Indicative starting points for daytime work, any day of the week — each links to the full price guide:
- Handyman jobs — drilling & mounting from S$40–S$60 per item depending on wall type
- Electrical — socket replacement typically S$60–S$120; light points S$80–S$180
- Plumbing — tap, trap and heater-related works from S$60
- Aircon servicing — standard servicing from S$50 per fan coil, weekends included
- Full 84-row price index — every service, one searchable page
All figures are indicative reference prices; the final price is always confirmed in a written quote after photos or an on-site check, and work starts only after you approve it.
The time-of-day bands (the only real surcharge)
| Start hour | Labour adjustment | Applies on |
|---|---|---|
| 09:00 – 21:00 | Standard rate | Every day, incl. weekends & PH |
| 06:00 – 09:00 | +30% on labour | Every day |
| 21:00 – 24:00 | +30% on labour | Every day |
| 00:00 – 06:00 | +50% on labour | Every day |
The bands are overtime labour adjustments — they are not credited against the work price, and they apply identically on a Tuesday and on Chinese New Year. Materials never carry time-band loading.
Booking a weekend slot that actually holds
- WhatsApp first, with photos. Send the problem, your postcode and preferred window to +65 9823 7108 — you get an indicative quote and the earliest real slot, not a promise.
- Book 1–2 days ahead when you can. Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon go first.
- Urgent or exact-time visit? An optional S$30 priority fee secures an urgent or customer-specified time slot, subject to technician availability. It is a separate service fee and is not deductible from the work quotation.
Every visit carries a flat S$10 fuel surcharge; there is no standard call-out or inspection fee. Where real fault diagnosis is needed, the diagnostic labour is quoted first — and credited in full toward the repair when you proceed.
Weekend & holiday pricing FAQ
Do plumbers and electricians in Singapore charge more on weekends?
Many companies do add a weekend or Sunday surcharge. FixMove does not: Saturday, Sunday and public-holiday jobs are quoted at the same rates as weekdays. Only the start hour changes the labour rate, on any day.
Is there a public holiday surcharge?
No. A public-holiday afternoon booking is priced exactly like a normal weekday afternoon. The written quote you confirm before work starts is based on scope and start hour, not the calendar.
What if I need a repair late at night on a weekend?
The night bands apply on every day equally: 09:00-21:00 standard rate, 06:00-09:00 and 21:00-24:00 add 30% on labour, 00:00-06:00 adds 50% on labour. These bands are overtime labour adjustments and are not credited against the work price.
How do I lock in a weekend slot?
WhatsApp +65 9823 7108 with photos, your postcode and preferred window. Weekend slots fill fastest, so booking 1-2 days ahead helps. An optional S$30 priority fee secures an urgent or specific-time visit, subject to technician availability; it is a separate service fee and is not deductible from the work quotation.
Are there any other fees I should know about?
A flat S$10 fuel surcharge applies to every visit, any day. There is no standard call-out or inspection fee. Where actual fault diagnosis is needed, the diagnostic labour is quoted first and credited in full toward the repair if you proceed. Materials are quoted separately and never carry time-band loading.
